Sustainable rest and relaxation also requires a sustainable environment: we have set ourselves the goal of evaluating and optimizing processes, products and more, and always acting in the interests of sustainability. This applies to energy efficiency and regional delivery, but also how we treat guests and employees, the use of materials and the assumption of social responsibility.
Together with ClimatePartner, we have recorded all emissions from our products and our operations – from heating our hotel rooms and preparing dishes in our restaurants to electricity consumption and the kilometers our team members travel to the hotel. Until now, we have offset unavoidable emissions through internationally recognized climate protection projects, most recently by supporting clean wind energy in Brazil. Moving forward, we will increasingly invest these funds in our own sustainability projects within the hotel group, such as expanding photovoltaic systems. This way, we create genuine impact on site – transparent, tangible, and always with the clear goal of avoiding and reducing CO₂ emissions in the long term.
Since July 2022 alll of our hotels were awarded the Seal of Verified Sustainability. The Institute for Sustainability & Economy awards this internationally recognized seal to companies that work efficiently in terms of energy, costs and materials, maintain a good working atmosphere for the team, and focus on the use of regional and renewable or recyclable raw materials.

In the Novalis kitchen, we prefer to use food that we buy regionally and seasonally wherever possible, and we know all of our suppliers by name. From game from our own woods in Hardenberg, to dairy products from Naturkost Elkershausen, to vegetables from Penk, the organic farmer around the corner.
