Founded in 1954, Relais & Châteaux brings together more than 580 unique and independent hotels and restaurants around the globe. All members share a passion for hospitality and a commitment to preserve local heritage, culinary culture and natural beauty.

The obligation to protect the local heritage and the environment was recorded and presented in a manifesto by UNESCO in 2014.

In Germany, just 22 hotels and restaurants are currently members of the association. From Sylt to Upper Bavaria, some of the most renowned hoteliers and many of our country’s top chefs are represented here; some have been a part of the association for more than 25 years. A number of Routes du Bonheur itineraries combine the most beautiful destinations in Germany with established hotels that offer genuine hospitality and excellent cuisine.
